MA`O Fundraiser Sends 27 Youth to College

FUNDRAISER SENDS 27 WAIANAE YOUTH TO COLLEGE

Wai`anae, HI. MAO's 4th Annual MAO Ma TOWN event on September 20, 2008 at DOWNTOWN Restaurant was a huge success, raising a total of $34,752.28 – enough funds to provide 27 Waianae youth with full tuition scholarships for the 2008-09 school year at Leeward Community College. TOWN Restaurant has helped MAO raise over $100,000 over the past three years through this event.

Twenty-three of these youth are of native Hawaiian ancestry and over 90% of college interns are 1st generation college goers. All are pursuing their Associate of Arts degree with an Academic Subject Certificate (ASC) in Community Food Systems. The youth are:
