WAI‘ ANAE , HI (10/3/08)—During the week of October 6 – 10, Kamaile Academy will be hosting an ‘Ohana Intersession: Ma Ka Hana Ka‘ike, to share the spirit of aloha through learning experiences that will build lifelong relationships and a strong path for success for our children. This intersession will include Hawaiian Enrichment opportunities and a culminating tour of Makua Valley with two local archaeologists and mo‘olelo from the original evicted families of the valley.
Families will also be offered the opportunity to learn a hula where each step tells a wonderful story about the beautiful Hawaiian culture. A family literacy program supported by the Native Hawaiian Library, Alu Like, YMCA, Pacific American Foundation and Kawaiaha‘o Church will provide parents with the opportunity to read with their children and Kamaile Academy will present mini-classes in parenting, computers, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).
Kamaile Academy is a Hawai‘i public charter school on the Leeward coast of O ‘ahu. It is the mission of the Kamaile Elementary community to offer every student a personal, responsive and rigorous education and that every Kamaile Elementary student will know the pride of accomplishment, the heart of connection and the meaning of 'ohana.
