Good Morning Representative Shimabukuro

I really enjoyed your report last night at the Waianae Neighborhood Board meeting. I found it very informative, well researched, and perfectly presented. Thank you for all you’ve done for the people in the Waianae area and the citizens of Hawaii. You have brought positive change to an area that needs it and hope to those that may have given up hope in their own community. Though I don’t live in your area, Waianae has been my playground my entire life. For all the good you have done in this community, I thank you!

Last night I made a plea for volunteers to deliver meals on the Waianane coast. Below is a brief summary of what that entails. If you should have any questions or are in need of further information, please do not hesitate to contact me via any method mentioned below. I would greatly appreciate any leads you may have in locating volunteers in the Waianae area.

What: Volunteers needed to deliver meals to homebound seniors
  • Must have own vehicle (partial gas reimbursement for mileage)
  • Must be licensed driver
  • Must be 18 years old or accompanied by an adult while on delivery
  • Good opportunity for HS students, clubs, retirees, and those in search of community service hours or service learning credits
When: Volunteers must be available for a minimum of one day a week (Wednesday), between 10 am – 2 pm
Where: Must meet Lanakila Shuttle Van at Nanakuli Beach Park at 10 am
All volunteers meet at this location to receive meals. No driving into town necessary

How do I get an Application? Applications can be requested by phone, fax, or email at the info below. You can also pickup applications at the Lanakila Meals on Wheels office at 1809 Bachelot Street. Acceptance into volunteer program pending background check and interview.

Much Mahalo,
