Highlights: 80 unit transitional housing will be for families currently residing in our emergency shelters in Waianae and Kalaeloa. Anticipated occupancy is approximately 250 people. Catholic Charities has been identified as the service provider. Building walls and all roofs have been erected. Installation of hot and cold water tubing and electrical cables is on-going. Delivery and installation of plumbing (sewer) pipes is on-going. The Contractor was reminded about mud and dust removal along Kulaaupuni St. The sewer line under the drainage canal has been constructed. Installation of sewer along Holt road is completed. Excavation work for the manhole at the corner of Kulaaupuni St. and St. John Road is on-going. Deed transfer processing activities continue between State and federal government agencies. Contract discussions continue with various on-site Providers that include overall management, children’s facilities, kitchen, and children’s receiving home. GSA is transferring the land to the State less the one acre former transmitter building site on the far corner of former Voice of America parcel that is not part of the Villages of Ma‘ili property. This one acre parcel will be fenced in and environmentally remediated by the US Coast Guard. It will be transferred to the State after the remediation is completed. Easement for US Coast Guard access to the site has been agreed upon. Other Projects: Kahikolu Ohana Hale O‘ Wai‘anae (part of Uluwehi subdivision) 72 unit emergency, transitional and affordable housing facility with 40 dormitory bed shelter under non-profit Hawaii Coalition of Christian Churches. Anticipated occupancy is approximately 250 people. Construction is on schedule for all buildings to be completed by 6/30/08. Fencing, landscaping and ancillary activities will extend beyond 6/30/08. Meeting was held with Pastor Boo and service providers for Villages of Ma‘ili and Building 36 to establish requirements for receiving residents upon opening of facilities for operations. Kahikolu Ohana Hale O‘ Wai‘anae will be the first of the three facilities to receive new residents. A follow-up meeting was also held with service providers and outreach providers to coordinate qualification/preparation of unsheltered homeless and shelter residents for movement into the three new facilities. Bldg 36 (Kalaeloa) Former military enlisted quarters, three story building with 71 units (65 singles, 6 doubles). Anticipated occupancy is approximately 200 people. The facility will house primarily homeless adult singles and couples from the Leeward Coast. State continues to work with Navy BRAC on the deed transfer. All design and contract requirements and all environmental abatement work have been completed and certified. Construction is underway for completion date in August 2008. STATUS / WORK IN PROGRESS (Cont.) Bldg 36 (Kalaeloa) Removal of existing floor tiles is on-going. Installation of concrete forms for the new first floor ramp, accessible ramp, and stairway landing and walkway extension is on-going. We are addressing tripping hazards caused by tree roots up-heaving sections of the sidewalk fronting the parking lot.
