Aloha Wai`anae Community Members,

I am a 5th and 6th grade math teacher at Wai`anae Elementary School. Although many of the students I work with have failed to meet state standards in the past, they have immense potential and are capable of achieving. Fortunately, I have the privilege of working with the same amazing students next year as sixth graders and will have another opportunity to help these students learn several years of material in just one.

While visiting Kapolei Middle School, I found an incredible math program that would enable me to more adequately meet the needs of each of my students. The average sixth grade classroom spans 9 years of proficiency and I will be better equipped to teach each of my students at their levels with the assistance of this program (Accelerated Math). Accelerated Math is a research-based program that has been shown to help students meet standards and develop greater proficiency of mathematical concepts. I need your help to bring this program to my classroom.

I have written an ambitious grant (url below) and individuals or businesses can donate. I am confident that there are innumerable individuals out there eager to help our local keiki and believe in the power of community members working collaboratively. Generous individuals throughout the country have already donated $654! Every bit helps, so even if you have $5 dollars to spare please consider donating!

Please help students in need by clicking on the link above! Contributions are tax-deductible, and the donors receive photographs, student thank-you notes, and a teacher letter for the project they choose to sponsor.

Remember, the future of Hawai`i depends on the condition of its children. People like you who generously support our children are working toward a brighter future.

Mahalo!
