LEEWARD BEACH PARK NIGHT CLOSURE UPDATE
As announced earlier this month, several Leeward Coast beach parks will soon be closed at night in response to requests from residents and applicable Neighborhood Boards concerned with ensuring that the parks be kept safe and clean.
The closure dates for the following parks have been changed from July 28 to August 11: Tracks, Nanakuli (Cove and Beach), Lualualei No. 2 and Pokai Bay parks. Night closure hours will be 10 pm to 5 am.
Plans call for Ulehawa No. 2 (the area between Nani Kai and Maili across from the 7-Eleven store) to also be closed from Sunday, September 28 at 10 pm to Friday, October 3 at 3 pm for extensive cleaning and maintenance. Effective October 3, the park is to be closed every night from 10 pm to 5 am.Plans also call for Lualualei No. 1 (also known as “Sewers”) to be closed from Sunday, October 12 at 10 pm to Friday, October 17 at 3 pm for extensive cleaning and maintenance. Effective October 17, the park is to be closed every night from 10 pm to 5 am.
Park users are being informed of these closures in advance and encouraged to seek appropriate alternatives.
