HSTA Visits Capitol on "Furlough Friday"

The HI State Teachers' Assn. (HSTA) visited the capitol on "furlough friday" (2/12/10) to discuss their priorities with legislators. Two teachers who reside in Makaha visited Maile. L-R: Jamie Branch (Wai`anae Elementary teacher), Maile, and James Urbaniak (DOE curriculum specialist & LCC-Wai`anae English teacher). [Click on the photo for a larger view].

Among HSTA's priorities are: extending the VEBA health plan, reducing class sizes, and ending furlough fridays by using $35m from the rainy day fund. HSTA does not supported a governor-appointed DOE superintendent & Board of Education.
