Waianae El Needs Golf Cart for Fragile Students

Waianae Elementary School is in need of a golf cart to transport medically fragile students. They are even willing to accept a golf cart in need of repairs.

"I hope a golf course, hotel, or other business will be able to assist my alma matter, Waianae Elementary School, by responding to this urgent request. Waianae Elementary's campus is spread out, and they must be able to transport their medically fragile students, especially for emergencies," said Rep. Maile Shimabukuro.

I'd like to announce that NOAA's new OceanWatch website is now online at http://oceanwatch.pifsc.noaa.gov. Here, you will be able to freely browse, select and download all of our satellite data products. In addition, you will also find a newly designed web site that contains new sections and links to our entire satellite data archive, dataset descriptions, and full data access (LAS and THREDDS), etc.
Please feel free to explore the web site and browse through our satellite oceanography data archive. Be sure and let me know if you have any comments, or feel free to email the site's architect, Lucas Moxey, directly at lucas.moxey@noaa.gov.

Leeward Beach Closures Begin Aug 11, 10PM

Planned late-night beach closures for several Leeward Coast parks begins Aug. 11: Tracks, Nanakuli, Lualualei No. 2 and Pokai Bay Beach parks.

Night closure hours will be from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The park closures stem from community concerns about safety in the areas during night hours. (Source Honolulu Star-Bulletin)

Pub Hsg Resident Community Mtg - Sep 10, 6PM

The (HPHA) would like to cordially invite you to participate in a Resident Community Meeting. These meetings will be held at all of the management units (now known as Asset Management Projects, AMPs) to address and discuss:

1) Resident Association and resident issues/concerns,
2) Community, police, neighborhood board, nonprofit and elected official issues/concerns,
3) HPHA staff and management issues/concerns,
4) New HUD requirement for Asset Management (project based management),
5) Long-term public housing repair and maintenance needs, and
6) Possible solutions such as, a) resident and volunteer involvement, b) mixed income/mixed finance development (successfully done in places such as San Francisco and Seattle), and c) other solutions.

The meeting for Wai`anae will be held on Sep. 10 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the ___TBA____. Light refreshments will be served.
